Parental Control

In the New York Times article, “Should You Spy On Your Kids” by Nick Wingfield talks about parental control and how parents have many options with being able to keep close tabs on their children due to technology. “Digital monitoring — from tracking those whom loved ones communicate with to snooping on their social media accounts to checking their locations — is becoming common even among people who view themselves as mindful of the boundaries with their children and partners” (Wingfield). I found this quote from the article very interesting because due to technology nowadays, it is so easy to snoop and track people to find out their location. There are even apps such as “Find My Kids” which allows parents to track where their children are at all times. While yes this technological advancement is good in ways, it is bad in a sense where these children feel like they are trapped and being stalked 24/7 even if it is just by their parents. This article relates to my Parenting and Technology class due to it being about how parents can presumably have total access to where their children are 24/7 due to technology. https://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/10/style/family-digital-surveillance-tracking-smartphones.html
