Does Technology Effect Our Communication Skills?

In a video I found on YouTube by Blake Vest, he talks about the effects of technology on communication. He first starts off by mentioning a positive example of how technology has brought through communication when it comes to increasing productivity with businesses. However, when it comes to the internet, it is a powerful tool because many people easily become addicted to it. These people become so addicted because it allows people to be in constant contact with people through online gaming sites to sites such as Facebook. The video then goes on to explain how technology and internet use can allow one to stray away from his or her family by not spending enough time with them due to the distraction of technology. Technology, especially when it comes to children, causes many of them to forget how important physical activities are and allows these children to become lazy and less motivated. This video relates to my Parenting and Technology class because we have been discussing in class how technology affects one’s social skills due to technology allowing them to talk to people behind a screen.
