In this article, the author talks about how the current social distancing situation caused by this COVID-19 pandemic may cause relationships and love to struggle. The author goes on to explain how love is the opposite of hygiene. She goes on to say, “As a small example, I have two cats, and roughly every few months, one of them has some kind of horrible poop accident.” She claims that she has chosen to love her cat, which essentially means she is going to have to clean up her cat’s poop. The author then compares romantic love and familial love with making a promise to clean up someone else’s poop. Love is intensively and physically disgusting at times when you come to think about it because; for example, when a loved one is sick with the flu, we do everything possible to take care of them and be around them when they are sick. However, with this pandemic and ordered social distancing from the government, we are essentially being told not to love. This is extremely difficult for people especially families where a son or daughter cannot take care of their elderly mother. This article relates to my Parenting and Technology class solely to the fact that even technology cannot help in this situation. Love is purely emotional and physical and the physical aspect is taken out due to the social distancing. https://www.theatlantic.com/family/archive/2020/03/what-does-social-distance-mean-within-a-family/608044/
